Keokuk Caulk Wax is a proprietary blend of waxes that will not dry up, shrink, or melt out under normal use. Each puck can seal 50+ open tubes of caulk simultaneously for the price of one tube. It is the easiest and most affordable method on the market to save your open tubes of caulk or construction adhesive.

 

After years of using nails, screws, tape, wire nuts, blobs of caulk and anything else that we could find to jam into the end of a caulk tube, only to come back a week later and find that the caulk had cured and was useless, we decided that it was time to solve this problem once and for all.

   

First we needed it to work, not just once, but every time we used it, and we set a goal of at least 6 months of storage between uses. We knew it had to be airtight to keep the caulk from curing, but how do you make an airtight seal in a hole whose exact size you can't determine? We decided that the seal needed to be easy to apply, able to adjust to fit the inside of any size hole, and would last indefinitely. 

     

The next issue was how to apply it and how to make it user friendly. We couldn't have people throwing hot wax around the job site, so it would have to be pliable enough at room temperature to be used. This began the  process of blending waxes to figure out what the best combination of waxes would be to easily form an internal seal, but at the same time would not melt out in the car, dry up after a month, or shrink back into the tube allowing air in. After many attempts we finally came up with Keokuk Caulk Wax. It worked every time and the caulk lasted for well over a year.

     

Our last hurdle was determining what to store the wax in. Four key factors went into deciding our packaging: durability, portability, affordability, and accessibility. Since Keokuk Caulk Wax was made first and foremost for use by people who make their living in construction, we knew from experience that if it was going to the job-site, it needed to be durable. This brought us to the next two issues; portability and affordability. Eventually we decided on the puck. It was durable, it was definitely affordable, and it fits easily into a pocket or tool box. This brings us to our last factor; accessibility. Compact and portable, we decided that the puck would also be perfect because it was not too small. The other "caulk saver" products we found (namely the caps) are easily misplaced. A puck of Keokuk Caulk Wax is large enough to be easily located, and since it can simultaneously seal 50+ tubes of caulk for the price of one, you don't have to worry about trying to find multiple caps or tapered plastic plugs.
